Last weeks blog was about the Ascension and Christ’s instruction to wait for the Holy Spirit. Well guess what, that happened on Pentecost almost 2000 years ago. What’s more is that it in all likelihood has happened to you!
When you are baptized, the Holy Spirit rests within you and you receive the commission to make disciples. As you grow and mature, you learn more about the faith and you become more responsible to fulfill the mission you were given. But you also become more accountable to fulfill that mission as well.
I heard long ago that disciples are called to do what Jesus did. And the most important thing that he did was to open the doors so that we can get to heaven. Curtis Martin points out that if we get to the pearly gates and there’s not a bunch of people that we have helped along the way, we are going to be sadly disappointed. To really be disciples of Jesus, we have to help others become disciples of Jesus.
The time for waiting has come and gone. So think about it, if you are waiting … why? It is your time! God placed you here in this time for a specific purpose. And that purpose is to go make disciples.
